Have you ever bought one of these powdered dyes and then decided it wasn’t the right color you wanted or bought two bottles in order to make a custom color that didn’t work out quite right. I have three dyes that I have used in trials but never in a finished product. And each bottle of powder is probably a lifetime supply for me.
At our meeting at Woodcraft on December 8 I noticed that Woodcraft sells 20 different Transfast dye colors (list price $12.50 each for one ounce). I was thinking that if I find three EMGW members interested in sharing, then I would purchase one bottle of each color, a bunch of test tubes, paper funnels, and test tube labels and split each color bottle into fourths (1/4). Total cost of the project would be approximately $280 or $70 per person.
If you want to see what the colors are, you can find them on the Rockler web site (Woodcraft doesn’t show them as far as I can tell).
If you are interested in getting a set of 20 transfast dye colors with approximately ¼ ounce of each, let me know.
