DeWalt radial arm saw, model MBC. Manufactured 1954-55. Donated by Christopher Allen for the Annual Auction on May 10. Must attend auction to bid.

This was my father-in-law's saw, which he purchased when he built an addition on their house back in the 1950s.

He custom-built the bench for the saw.  The bench is 8' long.  Being frugal, he reused some lumber and 1/8" plywood from wooden shipping crates that he got from his job.  (BTW, there's an address crayoned on one of the panels for Gabriel Labs on Crescent St in Needham Heights, which I think is around the corner from where the auction is!)

When I came into the picture, the motor wasn't working, so I had it rebuilt by EL Wheet in Framingham sometime in the 1980s.  I used the saw twice after that (after I purchased a nice Freud negative hook blade for it!)

The saw is complete as shown, all controls and adjustments work, but the back/forth travel is a little stiff.  The rubber sawdust tube is kind of crumbly.  And sometimes the motor starts up in reverse.

I see many YouTube videos from collectors who restore saws like this, and I'm impressed that it's capable of several different machining operations in addition to just sawing.  Best would be if this could go to someone who values these machines and who loves to restore things.

Pickup is in Whitinsville, MA (town of Northbridge) which is a couple towns south of Worcester.  It's in my walkout basement in the back of the house, through a double-door, up a small hill to the driveway in front at the ground floor story of the house.
