by Michael Bossin
This is Michael's first Featured Piece submission. Among his other pieces, Michael designs and builds wall clocks (see his gallery at https://michaelbossin.com/). Many of us design our own pieces from another furniture piece, an outdoor scene, a painting or other subjective image that caught the maker’s eye. For this piece and other Art Nouveau clocks that he has designed and made, Michael was inspired by a book cover design in the “Glasgow Style” of the early 1900s.
Michael writes about his process starting from this inspiration and the intricate details that follow. There is more than meets the eye with this construction. And, apparently, Fine Woodworking Magazine thought so as well in its October 2021 issue. I hope Art Nouveau Clock is not the last submission from Michael.
