Last year, Mike dazzled, taught, and entertained us with a presentation on the fundamentals of upholstery. Lest you think he's a one-trick pony, he's not! He's also an authority on finishing, and will be back to demystify and demonstrate techniques that will improve your finishing skills.
Mike often teaches at the Connecticut School of Woodworking, and is a frequent contributor to Fine Woodworking magazine. He's recently produced a new FWW video course on finishing. Born, raised, and still living in Latham, N.Y., Michael Mascelli teaches finishing and upholstery at schools and guilds across the country. He is the director of the Professional Refinisher’s Group and says, “These folks are the true experts in restoration and conservation, so my teaching is just a re-packaging of what I have learned from the pros for over 20 years.” His approach to his work is to respect the piece in front of him and the life it had before it came.
