Our January program will be something different, when we visit Handshouse Studio in Norwell. As they say on their website, “Handshouse is a non-profit, innovative, educational organization that creates adventurous hands-on projects through community-service, building projects with partners around the world as a way to illuminate history, understand science, and perpetuate the arts.”
We’ll enjoy a presentation and tour by the founders, Rick and Laura Brown, focusing on their current massive project, which is a post-and-beam scale model of a truss for the reconstruction of Notre-Dame de Paris. Rick is a long-time faculty member at MassArt, and mentor to our member Marc Holland.
They’ll show us some of their other unique and inspiring projects, and we’ll tour their facilities. We’ll be indoors for the presentation, and outside for parts of the tour, so bundle up and bring walking shoes.
Bring your mask as they are strongly encouraged at Handshouse while indoors. On the other hand, there is no need to bring chairs. Plenty of seating is available.
If you not familiar with Handshouse, check out their website: WWW.handshouse.org.
