Phil Lowe, who, besides being an exceptional furniture maker, carver and teacher, has repaired/restored many of the historic furniture pieces in the Peabody Essex Museum, will introduce us to the techniques and considerations involved in restoration of fine furniture.
Phil will review through slides a few noteable conservation jobs he has completed, describing the process used to accomplish the task. He will then present a few current projects he has in-house, explaining the approach to restoration of each and will demonstrate a few techniques.
Parking is limited so please carpool if you can. You can use the boat yard parking next door and his building's small parking lot, but avoid spaces marked "2nd floor parking". There is also on-street parking.
Bring a chair.
