stool, Wharton Esherick inspired (4)

Created on: July 12, 2021
This stool is for my grandson, so that he can reach the counter in our kitchen. Of black walnut, it is inspired by the famous library ladder by Wharton Esherick. The bent laminate handle has a hickory spine and feet for reinforcement. The steps are attached to the upright with double shouldered bridle joint (Sam Maloof chair joint). The risers are dovetailed to the treads.
