Good morning guild members -
It is an unfortunately common occurrence that a woodworker will pass and their family will be left with the burden of figuring out what to do with a set of tools that has been collected and cherished over a lifetime.
I recently came across a project started by Aspen Golann which seeks to address that challenge. Some of you may know Aspen from the North Bennet Street School, or from her collaborations with Peter Galbert. She is amazingly creative and talented, and as this project demonstrates, committed to doing well by others.
The project is called The Chairmaker's Toolbox, and seeks to facilitate getting new woodworkers a jump start on the tools they need to succeed as chairmakers. Donations are collected, then given out in the form of scholarships.
If you are so inclined, you can also support the organization through a financial donation.
Hope everyone is having a nice summer, and look forward to seeing you in September.
