Quick what fraction, in 16ths, is close to 41/128?  I don't know either.

I made up this Excel Spreadsheet chart for fractions down to 128ths that helps me quickly find it's neighbor. it also has decimal equivalents for decoding your micrometer or caliper. It's color coded too. Both left and right justified files.

Download it and print it if you think that would be helpful.  I even laminated mine.

You are clairvoyant. How many times have we tried to find the closest drill bit size to an odd number fraction with 128th as the denominator.

This weekend I tried to replace the bearing on my Radial Arm Saw but the ID of the replacement bearing was .66929", 85/128"(actually 17mm). I needed a .625", 5/8" ID bearing.

Now, if you added an Imperial to Metric conversion column to your excel sheet........

Thank you, John.  It's great when someone does the hard work which you can easily modify to your own needs.I do my plans the old way, using drafting paper that is divided into tenths of an inch, so the decimals are very useful.

Right now I'm in the midst of drawing 1/3 scale plans for an entry door with sidelights and the conversions were driving me crazy!  But when drawing plans I don't measure less than 32nds so I removed the 64th and 128th columns and simplified the color scheme.

Thanks for posting the chart. I put it to use immediately.  31/128 hiding out behind 1/4 inch......
