As a student, Matt assisted public workshops, eventually going on to teach many of the woodworking workshops offered
by NBSS. He has also taught many workshops at other institutions including MassArt, Penland school of Craft and The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship.
After graduating from NBSS, Matt formed River City Furnituremaking in Rollinsford,NH. Now a co op shop with five individual makers.
River City has specialized in seating furniture of all styles, collaborating with designers and many different forms of architectural elements.
Matt has been active with both the Guild of New Hampshire woodworkers with the BIG group, and with annual lectures and demos with the Eastern Massachusetts Guild of Woodworkers.
Matt currently teaches part time in the Cabinet and Furnituremaking program at NBSS where he primarily teaches the chair making sections of the two year curriculum and is still active at the Rollinsford co-op shop.

Matt will be speaking about the simple-ish set of fundamental woodworking hand tools needed to execute quality work and do a couple
demos with each tool. Some simple demos, hopefully a couple that invoke some good Q and A and get some good conversation going
