Spiral cutter head

    I think I remember somebody in the Guild saying that they'd replaced the cutterhead in a Grizzly(?) planer with a spiral cutterhead. I'd appreciate it if that person or persons would get in touch with me as I'm contemplating swapping the cutterhead on my 15" GGrizzly and would like a better idea of what I'm in for.

    I added a Shelix spiral cutter head to my Grizzly planer. Not a trivial task, but doable by mere woodworkers.  My hazy memory is a 5 hour task that could be done mostly with typical home mechanic tools.  I had to buy a small gear puller, but otherwise had all the tools.

    Hi Don, it was probably me who talked about the swap. I agree with Mike. It was a bit tedious and messy since you have to drain the oil from the gearbox, but not really difficult.
