Have old Powermax drum sander with very difficult sandpaper hold down clips. Has anyone converted drum to hook & loop by applying Velcro to the drum allowing hook & loop sandpaper?

No, but... I did own a Grizzly G0459 "Baby drum sander" in the past, which does have a hook and loop surface and I found it to be problematic. The "Squishiness of the resulting drum surface caused problems and the hook and loop would get packed with sawdust and stop holding the paper. That's why Grizzly suggests holding the ends down with a wrap of tape.

I have had a Powermatic drum sander (with those HORRIBLE clips) for 6+ years and have found it to be a much better sander. HATE those clips, but I would not go back to a hook and loop mounting.

    Just one guy's opinion....
