Tool Auction and Sketch-Up

  • Jack Murphy's shop, 64 Coventry Wood Road, Bolton, MA

A two-part meeting, we will have our annual auction of surplus tools, supplies, and materials donated by Guild members. This is a fund-raising event for the Guild.

How The Annual EMGW Tool Auction Works:

Items to be auctioned are brought in by members on the day of the auction.  Any woodworking related tools, supplies, or other items are appropriate (no automotive or other non-woodworking related items).  Most members donate the proceeds from items they bring in to the guild but other arrangements are possible and sometimes used.  A member can set a minimum bid for any item(s) and/or request that the proceeds be split in some manner between the donor and the guild.  Details of any special arrangements are up to the donor.  However you choose to do it the auction is always fun and a great chance to clean out your shop, help the guild, and pick up some new treasures all at the same time.

SketchUp

In the second part, Jim Russell will present some of the capabilities, conveniences, and advantages of designing furniture using SketchUp, a free graphics design program. Jim will not teach you how to use Sketch-Up in this presentation but will provide members with detailed on line resources (free and paid) for leaning SketchUp.  We hope to have a workshop this winter to do that for those who are interested in using SketchUp for woodworking applications.
